1. What We Collect
When you use SidePlate, we collect:
- Account info: Name, email address, phone number, role type
- Date of birth (Pros only, for age verification — we store only what's needed to confirm eligibility)
- Professional details: Bio, specialties, hourly rate, years of experience, profile photo
- Event info: Party details, location, date, guest count, budget, contact info you provide
- Payment info: Processed securely by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers
- Background check results: Provided by Checkr for Pros who opt in
- Usage data: Pages visited, clicks, and other standard web analytics
2. How We Use It
We use your data to:
- Operate the marketplace — matching clients with Pros
- Generate contact sheets when a booking is confirmed
- Send transactional emails and SMS text messages (booking confirmations, interest notifications, receipts)
- Process payments via Stripe
- Run background checks via Checkr (Pros only, with your consent)
- Improve the platform and prevent fraud
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising.
3. Who We Share With
We share data only as necessary to operate the platform:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
- Checkr — background checks for Pros who opt in. Checkr's privacy policy applies.
- Postmark — transactional email delivery (booking confirmations, notifications).
- Twilio — SMS text message delivery. Twilio's privacy policy applies to message metadata and content.
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram) — we use Meta Pixel for advertising. Meta's privacy policy applies to data collected through their platforms.
- Other users: When a booking is confirmed, your contact info is shared with the other party via a contact sheet. By using SidePlate and completing a booking, you consent to this disclosure.
4. Contact Sheets
A contact sheet reveals your name, email, and phone number to the other party in a confirmed booking. This is the core function of the marketplace. By using SidePlate and confirming a booking, you explicitly consent to this disclosure. Do not use SidePlate if you're not comfortable with this.
5. Cookies
SidePlate uses cookies for session management (keeping you logged in as a Pro or admin). We use Meta Pixel for advertising attribution — Meta's cookie policy applies to data collected through their platform. Your browser can block cookies, but Pro login functionality will not work without them.
6. SMS Text Messages & TCPA Compliance
When you provide your phone number to SidePlate, you consent to receive SMS text messages related to your account, including booking notifications, event updates, and service-related communications.
For Pros, you may also receive optional promotional or marketing SMS messages from SidePlate. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time by replying STOP to any text message, or by emailing sideplate@polsia.app with "SMS Opt-Out" in the subject line.
Note: Certain transactional messages (booking confirmations, cancellation notices, payment receipts) may be sent regardless of your opt-out preference, as they are necessary for service delivery.
If you believe you received an unwanted text message from SidePlate, contact us immediately at sideplate@polsia.app. We take TCPA compliance seriously and investigate all reported violations.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we'll remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we're required to retain it for legal or compliance reasons (e.g., financial records). Booking records may be retained in anonymized form for platform analytics.
8. Your Rights (CCPA & GDPR)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
To exercise any of these rights, email sideplate@polsia.app with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We'll respond within 30 days.
California residents: SidePlate does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. You have the right to request disclosure of what we collect and to request deletion.
9. Security
We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data. Passwords are hashed. Payment data is handled by Stripe (PCI-compliant). No system is 100% secure — use SidePlate at your own risk for security purposes.
10. Children
SidePlate is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we'll remove the account.
